Small King Room in Historic Ballater

Disappointed Positive: Room was very small, no outlook. Difficult stairs for people like us with disabilities. Negative: Not pleasant.Very small for the price we paid.

Unfortuntately, it was not the relaxed stay I was hoping for. Negative: Sadly, there were several reasons why I would not stay here again as a solo traveller. Firstly, the king-sized bed was too big for the room, leaving little space to move around. The fridge wasn't cold enough, and the coffee was awful. The room was way too hot, so the window had to be opened. Not great because the room backed on to a restaurant kitchen and live music blasted from the nearby bar, and the noise from revellers went on until after midnight. Before 9 am the next morning, bottles were recycled, making an incredible noise. And to top it off, pillowcases were stained. I paid £170 and used credits I had gained to part-pay for the room. I completely regret it now; I wouldn't recommend it, and would never stay here again. Completely over-priced for what it is.

Very, very disappointed Positive: Location Negative: The website was totally misleading. It implied Self Catering and a Lounge. Other than two footstools there was nowhere to sit. A student desk and crockery in the drawer. Tiny fridge and only one bin between bathroom and bedroom. The carpet was dirty and there was an open pack of cigarettes in the bedside drawer with some loose cigarettes scattered. There was no mainstream TV channels but when the internet went down we tried to contact the phone number. It was busy but said to leave a message but that was not possible.

Positive: Good facilities in the room. Clear check in instructions. Very clean and comfortable. Negative: No Freeview TV but a lot of good online options
